Find your True North — a plan built for you
Answer six quick questions and we'll point you to the exact tabs, categories, and free tools for your situation. Everything stays in your own browser — nothing is sent to any server.
Sorted by category, function & state
Start with the general boards, then go where your industry hires — niche boards get far fewer applicants per opening. Filter by your function (Finance, HR, Tech...) or your state to narrow the list. Everything is free for job seekers unless marked paid.
Your industry hires here
Niche boards see a fraction of the applicants the mega-boards do — and industry communities get you known before a role is even posted. Pick your field below.
Free & freemium AI career tools
AI can write, tailor, and pressure-test your materials — but never submit anything you haven't read and personalized. Pricing reflects each tool's last known tiers; free limits change often, so check each site.
Industry & professional groups worth joining
Most jobs are found through people, not postings. One or two well-chosen associations put you in the room where referrals happen. Free options are flagged; paid memberships only pay off in your target industry.
Speaker groups & career events
Interviews are performances — practice them. These communities build your public speaking and put you in front of recruiters and career experts, most at no cost.
Disability & neurodivergent career resources
Job boards, corporate neurodiversity hiring programs, advocacy organizations, and know-your-rights resources for job seekers with disabilities and neurodivergent professionals. Free for job seekers unless noted.
LGBTQ+ career resources
Employer-research tools, inclusive job boards, and organizations with active career support for the LGBTQ+ community. Free for job seekers unless noted.
You never have to search alone
These peer groups, ministries, nonprofits, and government programs cost nothing and give you accountability, coaching, and people in your corner.
Build experience while you search
Volunteering keeps your skills sharp, expands your network, and closes resume gaps — and studies show it leads to interviews faster. Internships and micro-internships open doors for students, recent grads, and career changers alike.
Launch straight into leadership
Leadership Development Programs (LDPs) are paid, structured rotational tracks that fast-track new grads and career changers into management. They are highly competitive — apply early, since most open applications in the fall. All are free to apply (a program that charges a fee is a red flag).
Recruiters who work for you, free
Staffing agencies and search firms are paid by employers, not job seekers — never pay one a fee. Register with the firms that specialize in your field, and get on the radar of retained executive search firms at your level.
Templates, trackers & guides — everything else that's free
The extras that make a search easier: free resume templates, application trackers, the best career advice on the web, salary negotiation guides, and official government guides.

Built for job seekers
Career Compass is a free, carefully organized directory of 1901+ vetted career resources, AI tools, and career communities. Nothing here is sponsored — every resource earns its place. A few tips for using it:
One general board (Indeed or LinkedIn) plus the niche board for your function beats spraying applications everywhere.
Use the function chips at the top — Finance, HR, Tech, Creative and more — to instantly see only what applies to you.
Choosing a state surfaces its official job bank, federal jobs near you, and free in-person career centers.
Jobscan and Teal (AI Tools tab) show missing keywords — but only you know your real story.
Accountability groups measurably shorten searches. The Free Career Support tab has options for everyone.
Most public libraries give free access to LinkedIn Learning and career coaching — see the support tab.
Meet Bradley Matican
Career Compass was built — and is maintained — by Bradley Matican, a mediator, HR professional, and organizational-behavior specialist based in Fort Lee, New Jersey. His work has always lived at the intersection of people and work: resolving disputes, building talent and culture strategies, and studying how people and organizations actually behave.
Career Compass grew out of a simple observation: the best job-search resources are scattered, paywalled, or buried in lists of fifty links — while the people who need them most are out of work and short on money and time. So every resource here is free for job seekers, organized the way a career coach would organize it, and vetted by hand. Know a resource that belongs here? Use the Suggest a Resource tab — it reaches Bradley directly.
